A year after our first boating event, families and friends from Toronto, Buffalo, Rochester, and beyond gathered with us again on August 16 at Beaver Island.
Children headed onto the water with support from volunteers and activity leaders, trying kayaking and other water activities under the summer sun. Nearby, parents gathered to hear from specialists, exchange experiences, and take part in a guided meditation led by Professor Jingting Wu — a peaceful moment to slow down, recharge, and connect with nature while the children explored.
Around them, the rest of the day unfolded in its own easy rhythm: a picnic lunch by the water, food catered with support from Starry Bridge, chess games, bubbles, bikes, beach play, and children moving freely from one activity to the next.
We were also delighted to welcome the North Star team from Toronto, together with their organizer and sponsor, Benny. It was wonderful to reconnect with returning friends while also meeting new families and young participants.
A year later, the lake was the same.
But the circle was a little wider. 🛶💙
