Springtime in the firelight

Springtime in the Firelight

•By Yongxin Liu (Starry Bridge parent)

The first ray of morning light slips past

the polar night

slowly dragging its cloak

back into the human world

Cups, saucers, and silverware stand on the table—

To dance is also a wanderer’s way

of expression

They push open the wooden door

Now, full-bodied water spilled onto paper

the dry past begins a new variation

A lion is slowly coming back to life—

first shaking out its fur

then walking on hunger

Spring is still good

Spring cries out, strong and clear,

in the firelight
